Sherry's Story

Sherry's Mom & Brothers

There are people who when they walk into a room, attention immediately will focus on them. They have the unique ability to literally "light up a room." Sherry K. Stone had that ability with without ever having known it. Sherry K. Stone was born Sherry Kay Smith on October 13th, 1948 and died on June 20th, 2009. She was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Sherry was one of those rare people who had a genuine love and thirst for life. She was a woman filled with love, compassion and great empathy for those who she came into contact. Rarely did Sherry ever meet a person who was not immediately engaged by her smile, her laugh and her warmth. Sherry had a strong sense of loyalty to her family and her friends. She loved her mother and late father very much. Her older brother Jerry, was her hero. Her younger brother Alan was the one whose opinion mattered most to Sherry. And her youngest brother Kevin was the gleam in her eye and the giggle in her laugh. Sherry looked upon her sister in law Ruth, Becky and Patty as the sisters she never had. Sherry had one son Alonzie Wright, Jr. whom she doted on endlessly. Junior as he is called, blessed Sherry with four grandsons who she absolutely worshiped.

Alonzie, Jr (Sherry's Son), Sherry & Me on our Wedding Day

Matt is a Lance Corporal serving in the USMC in Afghanistan much to Sherry's great pride. Eric will be a high school senior this year and works with me doing high school sports broadcasts. Zach is a high school student and the youngest Dalton will soon be of school age. They were indeed Sherry's pride and joy. I was blessed to have Sherry as my friend, lover and wife in my life for over 11 years. She brought so much love and happiness to all of our lives for the time that we all had her. Her passing away has left us all with a huge hole in our lives. We are heartbroken beyond words but, and yet we are comforted by the fact that her suffering has ended and she is finally at peace. We will always love her.
